Te Ahi Kōmau – Food, Fire, Festival celebrates South Auckland’s fiery volcanic past and the untapped experience and knowledge of Māori and Pacific fire-cooked cuisine including hāngi, umu, mataahi (spit), auahi (smoked) and flame-grilled delicacies.
Award-winning chef Ben Bayly will be at the fiery helm applying his expert culinary skills to present dishes prepared over fire, evoking traditional Maori and Polynesian flavours, ingredients and cooking methods.
Ben is the driving force behind Commercial Bay’s newest feature restaurant Ahi, opening end of August 2020. He is restauranteur at The Grounds in Henderson. His pedigree includes The Ledbury in the U.K, Restaurant Jean-Paul Jeunet, Atelier de Joel Robuchon in France and 9 years at iconic restaurant The Grove in Auckland.
The four-course feast is Māori and Pacific cuisine at its finest.
